bEHIND THE sCENES

This American and Chinese crew daringly set out to capture the beauty, peril and tenuous balance of life in modern day China. Aided by a collection of close friends living in China that provided locations, housing, transportation and other invaluable resources during production… the multi-national crew captured more than they bargained for.

Shooting the film brought the MADE IN CHINA team from the bright metropolis of Shanghai to the misty green mountains of rural Zhejiang Province, from gargantuan chattering marketplaces to long-abandoned ghost cities complete with a faux Eiffel Tower. Be a witness to the visceral sights and sounds of the majestic country that is China in all of her bizarre and raw beauty.

ESTRELLA B LOO - “YUEN-LING”

MADE IN CHINA Lead Actress

Originally from Panama, Estrella moved to China several years ago while working for an international trading company. This is her feature-film debut, her talents on and off set were invaluable.

Wang Zhao - “Dynasty”

MADE IN CHINA Sound Recordist

DYNASTY was an incredible member of the crew. Talented and hardworking, his skills of both harvesting sound and on-the-spot logistics were integral to the film’s completion. Dynasty is currently producing music, professional TV and films in China.



ZHANG WENYU - “ANDY”

MADE IN CHINA Assistant Sound Recordist

ANDY was a student when he took a train down to Yiwu and joined the crew of MADE IN CHINA. Not only did he help record the incredible tapestry of sound that is China, ANDY snagged a cameo in the film as well.



KEVIN ZHU - “DETECTIVE CHENG”

MADE IN CHINA Supporting Actor

Kevin Zhu’s contributions to the film went far beyond his portrayal of an unrelenting Chinese detective. He was also a critical member of the production team, able to locate extras and coordinate with other associate producers.


BRIAN WANG - “WANG ZHAO”

MADE IN CHINA Supporting Actor

Brian Wang has been a resident of Shanghai for over ten years but is originally from California. The bilingual actor has enjoyed an amateur stage career abroad and lives in China with his wife and son.



LUCY XIAN - “AUNT XIAN”

MADE IN CHINA Supporting Actress

Lucy met Brendan while they worked for the same company in 2012, she currently lives in Yiwu with her family.
